--------------------------------------------------DESCRIPTION--------------------------------------------------

The Psx Dune 2000 Walkthroughs were some of the first I ever did and it kind of shows. I only had a laptop at the time that would frequently overheat and shut down when playing the game and I was still new to editing and capture software. I using something whose name I can’t even remember that couldn’t go higher than…well potato quality from the look of my old videos.

To make matters worse, I was very concerned about the length. The PlayStation port experiences significant slowdown in the later missions as the game simply was not optimised to run on the system. I ended up putting the missions at two times speed (I really should have just let the audience do that in the options if they wished) and then played music over the top of them. The troops sounded like chipmunks, everything was confusing to watch and they were all around, not very good videos. I was proud because it was the first thing, I ever created but looking back, they were kind of shit. The actual gameplay I think was fine, but everything around it less so. Rather than delete these videos, I’m going to archive them in the ‘Outdated’ Playlist. This allows me a great opportunity to revisit any old video in the future if I feel it can be improved upon as I do my best to clean up my channel and make everything clearer moving forward.

Oh, and let’s not even talk about the horrendous black bars on the side and aspect ratio…

I’ve spent a lot longer working on the timestamps this time round, trying to find something of interest that occurs every 10 minutes to help break it up and to make navigation a bit easier. I’ve posted Time stamps to every Cutscene prior to the mission and separated missions with a time stamp. I did my best to try and show off the unique powers of each house. Unfortunately, I find the Atriedes Sonic tanks to not be overly useful due to their tendency to inflict friendly fire, and their airstrike are so slow and inaccurate that they are almost impossible for anything other than inflicting some base damage. Their battle tanks are also the faster, a trade off for being the most fragile, a compromise I don’t believe to be worth it. The freeman are fantastic troops, but too few in number to make much of a difference.

The atriedes Campaign is overall one of the easier ones, despite their limitations. As the good guys and protagonists in the Dune series, they are the ones people are expected to pick up first. There are a few tough missions here and there, but overall, they are probably the easiest campaign.

So, I’ve learned a lot since then and decided to redo it. I look forward to doing some kind of Commentary over this in the future as I think it would make a great podcast type video to express the Cognitive dissonance with the 1984 Dune movie, where I recognise it’s pretty bad but love it anyway.
