PuLiRuLa was made by the legendary Taito Corporation for the arcade, but is known to be one of the more obscure Beat 'em up games. It's known for its change of pace, where instead of "beating them up" you use a magic stick to transform them into cute animals. It begins as a very cute game, but then changes to absurdist surrealism that you see in some Japanese media. Its psychedelic imagery was also something I definitely enjoyed.

I was recommended this on a gaming discord where someone said that this is the perfect first beat 'em up to play due to its simplicity. I definitely agree on that. However, did I end up enjoying it? Find out here.\
