An Angel on killing spree -- As though bringing Virtualization for Good OLD Windows Games would have killed off other PC emulation projects whose once swollen egos belittling the potentials of virtualization and "cheater" pass-through 3D acceleration. As the Bible had prophesized, they had their faces slapped left & right. 🤣

Requiem Avenging Angel retail CD release patched to 1.2 with DirectX version check bypassed and using Direct3D renderer at high-resolution 1280x800. It was once believed that this GAME wouldn't have worked on WINE due to the use of Win9x VxD to lock the memory allocated for game assets. So that was wrong, modern WINE manages the GAME well, even from within Linux VM with Virgil 3D. The improvements of WINE will one day serve the purpose of GAME preservation. On Windows 98 VM with WineD3D, QEMU is still having troubles with the GAME mixing DDRAW surfaces and GDI elements on the startup screen before launching into the GAME. The use case of mixing DDRAW surfaces and GDI elements has always been a challenge for WineD3D on Windows VM as standalone libraries.

Though there were few stutters when the GAME had to load game data (speech, level etc.) from CD, overall I think this GAME is very much playable & enjoyable to be played from Linux VM. IMO, the GAME still looks very good with good detailed textures, lightings & shadows. Its high GPU usage makes "the other camp" CPU rendered 3D acceleration choke to death. Despite the talks of accuracy *BS*, their software 3Dfx does not even render the GAME correctly in shades & shadows. On the contrary, WineD3D renders the GAME perfectly across all the platforms, from Windows, Linux and onto the macOS on Apple M1. So much about emulation accuracy, it really means nothing but just *BS* for Games.

For those who don't believe in donation to support qemu-3dfx for playing Good OLD Games in Windows VM, Linux VM with QEMU Virgil 3D is a good alternative. You may still be required to build your own WINE, though ... 🤣🤣 Nice try, FOSS!
