Quake beta3 prototype - E3M4: The Haunted Halls (early E3M7) walkthrough
Quake beta3's E3M4 is when things start getting weird. Instead of Satan's Dark Delight, the E3M4 slot in Beta3 is taken by the final's E3M7: The Haunted Halls!
Even stranger is that the level is extremely barebones compared to the final E3M7. The only enemy is a single Ogre at the start, the regular exit area does not exist, the lava cage room doesn't make the player go into the cage (it's filled with lava), and the exit is found in the zombie corridor and has a message from the mapper telling the player the exit is just ahead when approaching the zombie room. There's also some interconnectivity that was cut in the final version, like an elevator early on.
This map has been played in Hard difficulty in order to show off every enemy spawn that the level has, though this map doesn't need it since it has one enemy.
