R-Type Final 2 Stage 3.0 with Eclipse R-Typer
3This video is part of a larger set that encompasses the Ship Showcase playlist. This is the twenty third video that I recorded.
Ships in this series: Albatross, Eclipse, followed by the OF Series
The Eclipse is an upgraded version of the Albatross. It has the Tentacle Force and another loop to its Wave Cannon. The red weapon is a beam that widens or contracts depending on horizontal movement of the ship. The blue weapon fires from the top and bottom of the tentacles on the Force and attaches to whatever enemy it hits until it moves out of range. The yellow weapon is two shorter range yellow arms that come from the top and bottom of the tentacles. The Force homes in while detached and shooting, dealing massive damage to whatever target it picks. Missiles are standard homing, good for anything. The Wave Cannon is an AoE blast, good for hitting targets behind solid ground, as well as damaging multiple enemies.
After getting the Eclipse, there's really no reason to stay with the Albatross, unless you have nostalgia for it, like I do. What I've noticed about this Force from Final and Final 2 is that the red laser doesn't get super powerful when contracted like it did in Delta, but it's still a great weapon.
I like this stage because of the music. I never had a problem with this stage in general, though a lot of people online say it feels unfinished. I played recklessly here because I'm used to using a Standard Force that will stay in place and shoot. It's noticeable when the enemies are coming from behind me and the ship finally reaches the foreground, but eh, I survived, and that's what matters.
