This video is part of a much larger playlist that will encompass the ship showcase. This is the sixteenth video that I recorded.

Ships in this series: Bydo System Alpha, Bydo System Beta, Bydo System Gamma

Bydo System Alpha, a ship that you see in the game as an enemy, and now you get to play as it. The red laser fires a saw blade wheel straight ahead. The blue laser fires Bydo bugs at 45 degree angles from the top and bottom of the Force. The yellow laser fires two long cylinders from the top and bottom of the Force in a horizontal firing pattern that drop artillery on enemies. The Force will rain acid on enemies when detached and shooting, but it doesn't fire bullets itself, so be careful about that. It behaves like a standard Force while detached. Missiles are the Bydo version of standard homing missiles, so you can't go wrong. The Wave Cannon fires from the back of the ship and curves out around on top and then homes in on enemies, making it very useful.

I've seen a lot of complaints about this stage, mainly because it's long and you can get shot by the background. If you pay attention, you can see the Heimdalls aiming their guns at your ship, so you need to make sure you move out of the way. This is particularly obvious when the line of R-Types appears behind you and comes forward with the Heimdall in the background - you'll see one of its cannons starting to aim at you while you're moving, so do be careful. Is it cheap? Maybe a little, but you can see the laser blasts coming, and they're relatively slow when they do, giving you time to move.

I find the hardest part of this stage to be the beginning. Not only do you have to get through that long section of Bydo lobsters coming at you, you get a bunch of Bydo bugs and Cancers shooting at you too, making it frustrating to get started. Once you get past that, the cool part of the stage begins.

All that said, this might be my favorite stage in the game. I love the different musics that play, especially Returned? A Familiar Space City, which is the track that play when you first get into outer space. Pity it doesn't play for longer, as it leads into the somber Bydo Encounter theme while you're wrecking the Jorumgandrs and Heimdalls. I love how cinematic this stage is too, with the camera panning around as you pass the different human ships, getting attacked by the different R-Types, and slowly making your way through.

This was the first time I recorded this stage after practicing, which is why I spent so much time charging the Wave Cannon. I've recorded this stage with several Bydo ships, and as I got used to it, I got more calm and passive, making the playthrough more cinematic.
