Wait, You Can Race OJ Simpson's Bronco on RC Pro-Am On NES?
30We recently shared that Retro-Bit is coming out with a special edition of RC Pro Am II on the original NES, and we're super stoked. It has gotten me excited to go back and replay the original and the sequel all over again, but there's another sort of version that I love as well. Our good friend @JohnRiggs has created ROM hacks for years, and one that I wanted for the longest time was a copy of OJ Pro-Am, an RC PRO-Am hack for the NES where you can actually race OJ Simpson's Slow, White Bronco. But one thing that I was curious about with this hack is whether, like in the originals, do you get new cars when you collect all 8 letters on a level with a specific car. Let's see as I've never done this since I bought the game from John.

Going through this playthrough, I noticed a few things for the first time. John did all the sprite swaps himself, but I didn't realize how many things he did tweak. Of course, all of the vehicles are in different colors. The player's truck is of course the white Bronco, and the other competitors are all black police SUVs. The water is all black now, just like the oil slicks, which is an interesting choice. I didn't notice until this time that the trophies were also sprite-swapped to gloves, knives, and other objects relating to the case itself. John also replaced the Nintendo that you collect the letters to move onto the next round with another term, same number of characters, but this points towards whether OJ did it or not.
Upon collecting all the letters I was excited to see what would happen on the next round, whether the car would change or not. Sadly, it did not and you are still driving the white Ford Bronco.
