Resident Evil 2 (1998) Walkthrough Part 5: Sewers (G2 Boss Fight)
0Claire continues searching the sewers for Sherry, ending up confronted by Anette Birkin, Umbrella researcher and Sherry's mother who believes Claire to be a spy sent to steal the G-Virus, revealing that the monstrosity chasing Sherry is actually her own father and Anette's husband, William who took the dose of G-Virus after being gravely injured by Umbrella operatives sent to take the viral samples from his facility by force several days prior. Upon mutating, William headed after the mercenaries, catching up to them in the sewers below the facility and massacring them before eating majority of the stolen viral samples that included the samples of T-Virus that were broken during the fight, resulting in sewer rats who came into contact with the viral residue infecting the city's water supply, thus kickstarting the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City as anyone who consumed or got in contact with the contaminated water became infected. Claire also learns that due to the nature of the virus, William has the ability and instictual urge for asexual reproduction through forceful insertion of his parasites into other living beings, with only viable hosts for his "G-young" being close relatives, such as biological children while non-related persons who get parasited end up killed as the parasites violently leave their bodies, ripping them apart on the way out. With same objective in mind, Anette and Claire separate to find Sherry, Claire eventually finding her in one of the sewage passages guarded by a mutated alligator whom she kills before collecting Sherry who complains of stomach ache. Two leave the sewers and pass through the disused factory, taking a large cargo elevator into Umbrella's NEST facility. During the ride, Sherry's condition rapidly worsens, leading Claire to realize that she has been implanted by William shortly after separating from her. Shortly afterwards, William lands on the elevator, mutating further in front of Claire before attacking her. Claire is able to defeat him and hide Sherry in one of the rooms within NEST, heading out into the facility to find a way to save Sherry from mutating...
