One of the coolest new gameplay features in Call of Pripyat is the unnerving phenomena known as "emission". When an emission occurs, you (and everyone else in the world) need to find shelter fast or face certain death. Since these emissions can happen at any time, things can get really hectic if you happen to be out on a mission when the weather suddenly starts turning supernaturally bad. Aside from boosting the already strong atmosphere and shaking up the Zone a bit, emissions can cause useful artifacts to appear in previously explored areas.
