rFactor (2005) - Every PC F1 Game
rFactor by ISI, 2005.
rFactor was by far the most popular platform for modding (and might still be, despite other, newer sims out there). However, for these clips I've only used default content that comes with each game, otherwise, instead of comparing games, I'm comparing mods, and this comparison could go on forever!
I've also set the date as when the game was first released, despite the F1 cars in the game being added a bit later on. Most games are developed/patched over years these days, so I've just gone for the launch year.
There's 3 official BMW Sauber F1 cars available for the game (as well as the F1-alike Formula IS cars). The 2006 BMW Sauber F1 car was (for a while) included in official released builds of the game. It's the same car that appears in Live For Speed.
The 2007 car was added a year later, and was available as free DLC from the rFactor website. The 2008 car is the odd-man-out, as it was included with the boxed rFactor Special Edition 2008, released that year.
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Monza is called Brianza in-game, as it's upofficial. Here I've added the Formula IS cars to flesh out the field. This is the 2006 BMW Sauber F1 car. If you drive the 2006 car, you notice corrupted, massive rear rain lights being shown on the 2007 car. This doesn't happen if you use the 2007 car though.
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:34 There's no wet weather in the game, and even choosing overcast doesn't affect the game! Silverstone is called Northamptonshire in the game. This is the 2007 BMW Sauber F1 car.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:45 This is the fictional Sardian Heights track that comes with the game. It does have a tunnel section, but it's a bit too tight for F1 cars. This is the 2008 BMW Sauber F1 car.
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:09 Spa isn't in the game, so I've used the Nurburgring (or Nuerberg as ISI branded the unofficial track!). Again, there's no wet weather. This is the 2008 BMW Sauber F1 car.
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:22 There's no Interlagos included in the game, so I used Barcelona. Apologies for the tedious nature of the pitstop, it's almost as if ISI didn't really try to make them at all interesting! This is the 2006 BMW Sauber F1 car.
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:48 Montreal is included in the game. Crashes can be wild in this game, a bit like the previous EA F1 games that ISI made. This is the 2007 BMW Sauber F1 car.
