Driv3r (2005) - Every PC F1 Game
Driv3r by Reflections Interactive/Atari, 2005.
In the third city of Driv3r (aka Driver 3), Istanbul, you can find a hidden 1930s race car. It looks very similar to the Auto Union Type D, as also found in Spirit Of Speed 1937 and various Forza Motorsport titles, amongst other games, so I decided to include it!
As you can only drive the car on the Istanbul map (and not Miami/Nice), the scenery is pretty limited! They also filled the city with old looking 1970s/80s cars, despite real Istanbul being a lot more modern, traffic-wise!
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Everything is Istanbul, the tracks in brackets are just the sort of thing I'm trying to replicate! Here you can see some Roman style viaduct, at least... I'm playing on keyboard by the way, which is why the car is a bit snappy.
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:28 This is a mix of the drive-by and super-slow-action-cam drive-by (with added motion blur!) that the game likes to do. The rain bounces off the road in small fluffy balls, which looks odd. There's no spray effects.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:48 There's not really any tunnels in the city, so here's some shadows from buildings and a bit of water, which is a bit like Monaco, I guess!
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:02 There's nothing much like Spa in this game, so I thought I'd mix it up and do some back roads!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:21 There's obviously no pitstops, so I park in a car park, briefly.
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:34 Those 1930s cars were tough, eh? I hit 3 other cars before these two! At least you can get out after the carnage, and survey what you managed to achieve! The police are pretty hopeless here! I thought about using the external cameras/Film Director mode, but I'd have probably missed most of the action!
