Rom the Vacuous Spider S17 Pt2 Let's Play Bloodborne
2Rom the Vacuous spider is definitely the story boss that's given me the most trouble thus far. 5 deaths in total for me here. Far more trouble than Logarius ever gave me funny enough. Why? Well being observant and quick to act is rewarded in spades here. So I never really got rewarded.
Jokes aside, if you have trouble in the 1st phase, be more patient. There's no time limit that I can tell. Just eliminate the spiders slowly and steadily. They hit fairly hard for being trash mobs and can easily swarm you killing you near instantly.
After the 1st swarm is dead, it's time to make a move on Rom whom will remain passive in the first phase until around 25% of it's health is gone. KEEP HITTING it as it fades out to teleport. You'll add another 200-500 swinging away and toward the end of the fight you'll be glad you did.
Phase 2 is when the challenge starts, it's phase 1 essentially except now Rom starts intervening. It seems to have a limited arsenal but it's deadly enough as is. It'll mostly use falling ice shards when you're at a distance. There are 2 ways to dodge it that I've found. One, run forward and left (riskier but easier to pull off), or look up and start dancing around the falling ice.
When you start closing in on Rom she starts casting her 2 big aoe spells. First of which you have to pay attention, when she rears up on her hind legs, watch to see if it's gathering energy. If yes, RUN AWAY NOW.
If she rolls on her back like she's a dog wanting a belly rub, you can probably dodge and weave just look underneath and see if you're on top of a blue circle.. don't be on one unless you want an ice colonoscopy. It's safer to just back up when she does this.
Just be sure to keep an eye on where the adds are. The rain of ice is often accompanied by a spider playing rambo and "coincidentally" hitting you right after,resulting usually in death.
One final note, don't hit them in the face. The spiders are wearing masks.. or their faces are stone. I find the former more likely strangely. Regardless it lowers damage taken drastically.
