Senate Backs FG On 18 Years University Admission Age.
The Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFund on Tuesday threw its weight behind the Federal Government move to pegg the minimum entry age into tertiary institutions in the country to 18 years.
This was made known when the chairman of the committee Sen Muntari Dandutse led other members as well as his House of Representatives' counterpart to monitor the ongoing UTME at one of the CBT centres in Abuja metropolis .
Speaking with journalists after the exercise , the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District and member of the committee, Sen Sunday Karimi, gave the nod of the red chamber to the proposal by the Minister of Education.
The lawmaker said the government through the policy intends to ensure
that students possess the cognitive and emotional readiness necessary to navigate the challenges of secondary education effectively.
The lawmakers commended JAMB for providing an enabling atmosphere for candidates to have a seamless exercise.
