UTME: FG To Review Age Limit Into Tertiary Institutions

The Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman has indicated plans by the federal government to review age requirement into tertiary institutions in the country.

The Minister gave the hint, when he monitored the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination at the JAMB Professional Training Center in Bwari, Abuja.

Prof Mamman who commended JAMB for the seamless conduct of the examination nationwide, however raised concerns over the age of some of the candidates.

The Minister also commended JAMB for deploying innovations in the conduct of its examination saying it has helped to reduce incidents of examination malpractices.

Earlier, the Minister of State for Educational, Hon. Sonunu Tanko who also monitored the UTME at the Kogo Computer Based Center in Abuja, commended JAMB for changing the narrative in the conduct of examination on the country.

Statistics from JAMB indicates that over 1.2 million candidates would have written the UTME at day 3 of the exercise.
