Okuama Killing: Army Releases Detained Monarch.
The Nigerian Army (NA) has handed over the Traditional Ruler of Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Clement Ikolo whose domain the 17 soldiers were killed to the Senator Representing Delta Central, Senator Ede Dafinone.
Senator Dafinone who is a surety to the Monarch is expected to provide him whenever the need arises in continuation of the investigation.
Handing over the Monarch to the Senator, the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said findings from ongoing investigation was yet to link him to the crime, however it is unusual to exonerate anyone at this stage.
General Nwachukwu further said the NA decided to release the Monarch to the lawmaker who agreed to stand as his surety.
Senator Dafinone who signed the undertaking on behalf of the monarch commended the Army for its professional disposition over the Okuama incident.
On 14 Mar 2024, 17 NA personnel deployed to broker peace between the warring communities of Okoloba and Okuama communities in Delta state were mindlessly killed by suspected persons recently declared wanted by the Army.
