Session 2: Butter Bridge of Illusion (Super Mario World)
0After making more attempts at the key glitch in Donut Secret 2 off-camera, I decided to give up and move on with the game, finishing up Vanilla Dome and making it all the way to Chocolate Island. Once again, Luigi is handling the main course of the game, while Mario is going after the optional areas.
That's one of my favorite things about this game: the optional paths. Sure, you have to go through the levels twice in order to access both paths, but hey, it's a lot better than what you have to do in Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine. Granted, some of the secret exits are a bit obscure. Cheese Bridge Area and Chocolate Island 2 especially took me a while to find the exits, originally. Cheese Bridge Area's exit can only be reached if you fly UNDER the goalpost, and Chocolate Island 2's secret exit requires you run through the level as fast as possible! What does Nintendo think this is, Sonic the Hedgehog?
I also really enjoy the animations when you beat a Koopaling castle. Nintendo could've made all the castle destructions like the one in Yoshi's Island, but instead, they made each one interesting, and more ridiculous as the game goes on. My favorite of them all is when you beat Castle #5. And that one is only at its most hilarous if you beat the castle while big, as certain animations for Mario/Luigi don't exist when they're small.
Speaking of smallness, the fact that you have to be big in order to escape from the Forest of Illusion is slightly annoying. Though really, the forest isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Also in the Forest of Illusion, Forest Secret Area has three 1-ups sitting beyond the goalpost. They weren't seen in this video because I hit the goalpost with them offscreen. I'd really like to know how I'm supposed to reach them.
And in the second trip through Forest of Illusion 4, I show off a Lakitu glitch. If you hit him with a fireball, he isn't considered dead until after you collect his coin. If you leave the coin alone, his cloud never disappears, and he never returns.
More importantly, you can eat Blarggs!
