Session 5: World 5 (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island)
0World 5 is probably my favorite in the game. Partly because of the snow, but also partly because it has some of the most enjoyable levels to play through. Hard, but fun. Take "Icy Conditions Ahead" for example. At the end of the level, there's a section where you can ski. Enjoyable as that is, it's a one-way trip, and if you miss a red coin or flower, you'll need to collect suicide if you don't want to do the whole stage all over again.
Out of all the levels in the game, Sluggy's fortress is probably the longest in the game. Either that, or that's the Loooooong Cave. But the latter is an auto-scrolling level, so it's hard to tell. One thing about Sluggy's fortress is that there's one section you can completely miss if you don't hit the right cloud bubble, first.
"BLIZZARD" gave me a bit of trouble, because I thought I missed a red coin. But upon retrying that part, that Shy Guy didn't fly in from the left again. Maybe those two guys can spawn from two different directions.
Also, "Shifting Platforms" is probably my favorite level in the game. Which is ironic(?), because it gave me a lot of trouble when I was younger. But here, I managed to catch on video what is probably the most epic save I have ever made in a video game. Until I lost.
Finally, there's "Raphael The Raven's Castle". First off, I gotta say, it's neat that Yoshi has the ability to transform in this game (why only this one?). It's aweome that one of his transformations is a train. But, anyway, Raphael is just about as epic as Naval Piranha, as they both have big openings. And unlike Naval Piranha, I actually show this fight. Unfortunately for those of you who are looking to be entertained, I am very good at that fight.
One memory trip before I list the stages. I saw a screencap of Kamek's message prior to the fight against Raphael in Nintendo Power. This was before I played the game for myself. I assumed that the message was Kamek being incredibly disappointed in Raphael's loss, and banishing him to the heavens as punishment. Of course, that still happened. (Until Paper Mario.)
