Shadow Meiling, Flandre and Patchouli (Labyrinth of Touhou 2 Plus Disk)
This fight can be a bit annoying, depending on your team
Flandre is a powerhouse, as you'd expect. There's a lot going on with her AI, so I'll leave the explanation to the Touhou Wiki. All you really need to know is that Flandre opens the fight with Laevatein and it hurts. If you don't feel like stacking up the necessary HP and FIR resistance to tank it, you can try your luck with EVA characters. Though Aya unfortunately died in this successful run, she dodged it in all my other practice runs. Flandre does use her other personal skills, but only after a specific number of turns. Her generic attacks are much more manageable.
Patchouli is also as powerful (and as weak) as you'd expect. She has her five personal spellcards which target FIR, CLD, NTR, WND and MYS, but if you're letting her actually cast these attacks, you're doing this fight wrong. Keep her locked down with PAR and you can easily finish her off with PHYS attacks.
Meiling is extremely annoying. Meiling will do nothing but heal Flandre if she's alive. Not only does her heal put out impressive numbers compared to all the other Shadow bosses so far, but her heal can even remove Ailments AND debuffs. When Flandre goes down, Meiling will finally start using her personal skills, including Mountain Breaker, a very dangerous PHYS single-target attack, Light Gem, a less impressive SPI single-target attack and the generic Attack skill. The Wiki recommends saving her for last but I gotta be honest; I could not punch through her wall of healing fast enough. Since Meiling never uses the heal on herself, I decided to kill her first. Flandre is more than manageable on her own IMO, especially if you have a debuffer waiting in the wings.
Anyway, this fight required a few adjustments. Futo was dropped because she could only do good damage to Patchouli, and between Kanako and Suwako, she was unnecessary. I dropped Reisen for similar reasons (PAR is far more consistent than SHK). Eirin was necessary for her overhealing. Wriggle and Yuyuko were added specifically to deal with Meiling (Meiling's bulk in this fight is ridiculous). Besides PSN (which doesn't have a 100% chance of landing), she doesn't seem to have any real weaknesses to exploit.
Looking back on it, I did have some unnecessary characters in this party. Meiling was supposed to tank Flandre's Turn 1 Laevatein but I completely forgot about her (since she could only tank the hit with the help of Guts). I definitely could have made this easier if I'd re-tweaked her equipment and bonuses to do more damage. Yukari was a holdover from an earlier strategy (where I'd rely on her to lockdown Patchouli). I still used her for Turn 1 and some Spiriting Away shenanigans, but that was it. Ran also didn't get much play outside of tanking the Turn 1 attack. I could have used her more but I really didn't want to prolong the fight.
