The MOD has named the British soldier killed in Afghanistan on Tuesday. Lance Corporal Liam Tasker, of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps was on patrol with his dog Theo when they were engaged by small arms fire. Lance Corporal Tasker died from the injuries he sustained. On his return to Camp Bastion his dog Theo suffered a seizure and died. LCpl Tasker, aged 26, was working in Afghanistan as part of the 1st Military Working Dog Regiment based at Camp Bastion. He originally trained as a vehicle mechanic as part of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers before transferring to the Royal Army Veterinary Corps in 2007. During his tour he had had significant success locating Improvised Explosive Devices and weapons. He leaves behind his mother Jane Duffy, his father Ian Tasker, his brother Ian and his two sisters, Laura and Nicola, and girlfriend Leah.
