The events in North Africa and the Middle East couldn't come at a worse time for the Armed Forces, struggling to deal with the consequences of the Defence Review. Such is the concern that 50 leading figures from the military, welfare groups and academics have written an open letter to the Independent on Sunday, calling on the Government to re-think some of its decisions. British Forces News spoke to one of the signatories, retired Colonel Clive Fairweather, who spent 34 years in the Army, including five tours with the SAS, some of them in the Middle East.
