Three 'eye in the sky' AWACS planes have been deployed to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus as NATO continues to the international community continues to closely monitor the Libyan situation. The aircraft - deployed to play a vital role in any humanitarian operations - arrived on the island last week and have been patrolling the skies in the region. Two VC10 tankers have also been deployed to refuel the AWACS, which are flying for up to 14 hours a day.
