There is many an argument made by people that Sonic 2 is the best Sonic game, but I have a hard time not loving Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The levels are absolutely huge, they cram in power-ups, special stages and bonus stages wherever they can, and even when the game doesn't quite hit the mark, there is a level of ambition in the third Sonic game that you have to admire. Carnival Night Act 2 is still an absolute nightmare though, even 20 years after first playing through it, I still struggle to get through it in the ten minute time limit!
