Level: Summit of the Gods
Location: World 2
Difficulty: Very Hard
Exits: 2

So, this level. I stumbled upon a Raocow video of ASPE, then i searched for this specific level, and he said it was hard and dumb, i didn't remembered the level being that hard when i played the hack 5 years ago but then i realized something, I played with the Layer 3 deactivated, that's why my mind was blurry. So i decided to revisit this stage and yeah, it's hard. Let's start with the level design
Quick note: I wonder if the final of the vertical level is a reference to something, because seeing Luigi sitting there is... odd in a strange way

Alright now:
The level itself it's a mountain, with grass tileset for some reason, the level has a lot of ledges stacked over more ledges, with slopes and vines, The first half is decent, nothing crazy and bearable. From the midpoint you have 2 choices, either you chicken out and take the normal exit through a sunny horizontal level with enemies you can deal with, or suffer for a lot of time with the vertical, cold, slippery and windy summit. Your choice. I did both, starting with the slippery path. Now, it may seem like i breezed through the level with one hand and having no real problem, but the thing is, i started this level with 99 lives, i spent 45 minutes learning the structure of the level to play it like i did, it took effort and memorization, but it paid off. As for the level design, it sucks, I'm not going to try and act nice because this level is just stupid, well, let's be fair here, THE SUMMIT SECTION, is the stupid one, may i ask why does the layer 3 is done that way? It creates a challenge yes, but the level design suffers from the Layer 3 making everything barely visible, and on top of that, it has wind, that doesn't sound that bad but it is stressful when the only ground to work with it's just two and one tile jumps, AND ON TOP OF THAT, the screen doesn't scroll down, so if you screw yourself up and miss one jump, one ledge, say goodbye and restart from the midpoint, also also the later section features more one tile jumps and vines to grab on, one tile vines to grab on, so good luck with the barely visible tiles
The positive stuff:
The idea itself, yeah, just that, the idea of climbing a mountain with wind and fog is a good concept, but this level doesn't do that right, and yes it's done that way to create a challenge and blablabla, but it's artificial difficulty mind you, it makes no sense, but other than that, that's the only positive stuff u can say about this section. The normal exit is fine, and more short. It's a sudden change of pace when you finish one path and go to the other
Graphically and Musically is vanilla, so not much to say about this one

Conclusion:
Good idea bad execution, the level it's good if you avoid the secret exit, it's more tolerable, but if you want to do a challenge well, look elsewhere
