Kabuki Quantum Fighter (Nes) Playthrough / Where antivirus fails, a lush haircut will help.
Kabuki Quantum Fighter (1990) by Human entertainment is is an example of a good platformer with an unconventional plot. In the game we play as Colonel Scott O'Connor, whose task will be to fight the rebellious Virus. It has taken over the earth's defense systems, which could lead to a global catastrophe. To prevent this, the Colonel has been subjected to an experimental procedure of consciousness transfer into a system infected by the evil virus since all other attempts to remove it have failed. The idea is a bit reminiscent of the plot of the movie Tron, which could have been somewhat of an inspiration for the creation of this game, but I'm not sure, it's just my guess. In general, the hero in this quantum world, materialized as a Kabuki actor...... which I can't explain how it happened, but it doesn't change the fact that it's awesome :D Kabuki's gameplay is very similar to Ninja Gaiden, for me better balanced overall but less spectacular. Our hero's main weapon is his hair.... he waves it so hard that opponents have no chance :) really something special. In addition, each level we unlock a special weapon, which, like in almost every similar game, we can use only until we run out of energy responsible for it. Both life and energy can be regenerated by taking power-ups from destroyed opponents, so sometimes it's better to stop for a moment and eliminate the target to increase our chances in the boss fight. Graphically the game doesn't stand out from the competition but you can't say it's ugly either, so the description is just right here. The soundtrack is very uneven, there are moments that it's really decent but for the most part it sounds very basic like one of the first games on NES :P I'm not a big fan of this soundtrack but it will pass in the end. Kabuki is quite a demanding game but very fair, there's no nonsense like respawning from nowhere and every defeat is only and exclusively our fault. I recommend the game because it's a break from many standard games on the system and of course in what other game can you whip your opponent with your hair :D In the outro it says that a sequel was planned but something didn't work out, which is a shame.
