I use Dark Pit in this video, and he is my least favourite clone character out of all of them, I think he was an unnecessary choice to put as a playable character, and I refused to believe it was real when the 3DS roster leaked, I immediately said it was fake, and when they showed gameplay about a few days before released by some players that got the game days earlier and streamed it, I felt like I was seeing things, as I couldn't accept it as reality when I saw that Dark Pit was in the game. He is a clone of Pit in case you couldn't tell, and he was originally supposed to be an alternate character to Pit, much like how Alph is an alternate character to Olimar, the reason he is his own character is because Pit uses the Three Sacred Treasures for his Final Smash, and Dark Pit never uses them in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
To unlock Dark Pit, in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, you have to complete Classic Mode with three different characters or play 50 Vs. Matches, and in the Wii U version, you have to complete All-Star Mode on Normal or play 40 Vs. Matches.
Then to go over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight against characters in their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters in their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and in the final round, you fight Master Hand, and on Intensity 3.0 or higher, you fight Crazy Hand as well, and on Intensity 5.0 or higher, you fight Master Core.
Dark Pit is a full clone, the differences are the effects of his special moves, and he has a different Final Smash, which unfortunately is a clone of Zelda and Sheik's Final Smash, so Dark Pit is one of the most unoriginal playable characters in the game, specially after how players wanted clones to be cut after Melee, only for this game to have three clone characters, well I don't know if Dr. Mario counts as he isn't a full clone of Mario in this game. Dark Pit's neutral special is Silver Bow, the difference is they have shorter range and and arrows are more difficult to curve, but they deal more damage than Pit's arrows. The first variant is Piercing Bow, the shots take longer to charge and cannot be controlled in the air, and they can pierce through opponents, the other variant is Guiding Bow, the arrows are weaker and slower, but they can be controlled more easily. Dark Pit has Electroshock Arm for his side special, Dark Pit's version launches foes diagonally upward and it has an electric effect, the first variant is Electrocut Arm, like Interception Arm, is a counterattack and it can activate when the opponent comes close to him, and it has less range than Interception Arm, the other variant is Quickshock Arm, which is a faster dash that continues after the uppercut, the move is like Pit's Quickdash Arm. Dark Pit has Power of Flight for his up special, and all of the variants of that move are the same as Pit's custom moves, the first variant is Striking Flight, this one cannot be controlled as much, and it launches opponents, Dark Pit's deal more damage and knockback than Pit's Striking Flight, and the other variant is Breezy Flight, which has a whirlwind effect that pushes away any opponents near Dark Pit. Down special is Guardian Orbitars, and they are the same as Pit's Guardian Orbitars, even the custom moves, Impact Orbitars can damage opponents, but it cannot reflect projectiles and shield attacks, and the other variant is Amplifying Orbitars, which boots the power of projectiles reflected, but the shields break easily.
I remember in Brawl, Pit's black alternate costume, which was known by fans as "Fallen Angel Pit", could likely be the inspiration of Dark Pit, and in Japanese, Dark Pit was called Black Pit, and this does effectively make Dark Pit the first playable character to be an alternate costume and then become their own playable character, although Brawl did come out before Kid Icarus: Uprising.
