Here is the last character on the base roster, and the next characters will be the DLC characters, the character I use is Sonic the Hedgehog, the representative for Sega, and the only returning Third-Party character, as Sonic was playable in Brawl. Being the fastest character in the game, Sonic did receive some improvements in this game, most of his moves have better knockback, which was the downside to Sonic in Brawl as his moves didn't have the best knockback, so he was all about speed.
Going over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight characters in their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters in their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and in the final round, you fight Master Hand, and on Intensity 3.0 or higher, you fight Crazy Hand as well, and on Intensity 5.1 or higher, you fight against Master Core.
This will be the last time I go over custom moves, because none of the DLC characters have custom moves, I don't have any plans to do Classic Mode with the Mii Fighters, so they might get their own video. Sonic's neutral special is Homing Attack, the first custom variant of that move is Stomp, Sonic jumps into the air before slamming down his opponent with a meteor smash, the other variant is Surprise Attack, which is a faster Homing Attack with less power and range. Sonic's signature Spin Dash is his side special, the first variant for that move is Hammer Spin Dash, which is a weaker Spin Dash, the move sets with a short hop that buries any opponent it hits, the other variant is Burning Spin Dash, which adds a fire effect to the move, it deals more damage and there is no hop at the start of the move. The Spring Jump is Sonic's up special, the first variant for that move is Double Spring, which has less height, and Sonic can create two springs to make up for the reduced height, the other variant is Springing Headbutt, when Sonic springs up, he can headbutt opponents while going up, the spring does not remain on the stage after use. Then his down special, Spin Charge, while it is like Spin Dash, this move can be charged by pressing B, the first variant of that move is Auto-Spin Charge, which removes the need to press B repeatedly to charge, and the other is Gravitational Charge, which pulls in opponents from the front and opponent behind him are pushed back, and it takes more button presses to power up the move.
While I did like Sonic's voice clips in Brawl, specially the infamous "You're too slow!", but in this game, all of Sonic's voice clips were taken from other Sonic games, most notably from Sonic Generations, and before some of the DLC characters in Ultimate, like Hero and Joker, Sonic was the only character to have his victory theme taken directly from their own game instead of being remixed, Sonic's victory theme was taken from Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.
