Next up is Lucas, while he was initially announced around the same time we first got gameplay on Mewtwo, and like with Mewtwo, Lucas did have a Trophy before he was included as a playable character, or in other words, a Non-Fighter Trophy. Lucas did receive some improvements in this game, and he does have some grabs, as he uses the Rope Snake, which can be used as a tether recovery so Lucas isn't reliant on PK Thunder, and he has some of the best throws in the game.
Going over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight characters in their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters in their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and in the final round, you fight Master Hand, and on Intensity 3.0 or higher, you fight Crazy Hand as well, and on an even higher Intensity, you fight Master Core.
When I went over Ness, some of Ness's custom moves reference Lucas's special moves, I might go over the differences between Lucas and Ness's custom moves. Lucas has PK Freeze, Ness does have that for one of his custom variants of PK Flash, and this was before PK Freeze was even more powerful in Ultimate, Ness's PK Freeze has lower knockback and damage than Lucas's PK Freeze. Next is PK Fire, Ness's custom variant PK Fire Burst is based on Lucas's PK Fire, where the bolt of fire explodes instead of creating a fire pillar like Ness's PK Fire. Then for PK Thunder, when Lucas uses it, it goes through opponents, and Lucas deals multiple hits when using PK Thunder 2, while Ness slams into opponents and deal heavy knockback, Ness's custom move Lasting PK Thunder acts similarly to Lucas's PK Thunder. Next is PSI Magnet, while Ness surrounds himself, Lucas holds it in front of him, and Ness's Forward PSI Magnet works like Lucas's PSI Magnet.
For their Final Smash, Lucas is the same as Ness's where their PK Starstorm can be controlled with the control stick, and it does not affect the whole stage, one thing I forgot to go over is that the meteors deal fire damage. There is a bit of trivia with Lucas in Smash 4 and the many things it tied in with, his announcement happened around 8 years after the release of Mother 3 in Japan, and the DLC for Lucas, Roy, and Ryu was available to purchase the same day EarthBound Beginnings, otherwise known as Mother 1, came out on the Wii U eShop. Unlike other DLC characters, Lucas was revealed around the same time we first received gameplay footage of Mewtwo, while Ryu and Roy were revealed a few days before the DLC was released.
