TheCrochetNerd64 and I are back to Shadow Hearts pretty quickly for Part 2 here on #SuperOldGameSaturday, but it IS a new month now for it and as a fitting close to Halloween 2022 (though this part has quite a few flashing light warnings, just to let you know). He started playing this 2001 PlayStation 2 RPG from developer Sacnoth last week and this week, we continued our adventures with Yuri Hyuga, Alice Elliot and Margarete Zelle as we continued our journey to stop Roger Bacon and Dehaui with our next stops and story developments, including our arrival in Shanghai, China, the return of some familiar faces from Part 1 and especially our trip to a seaside village run by one of the most glorious characters in the game, the Sea Mother. Actually, her 10 minute story time section (expertly voiced by Kayzie Rogers) was my first exposure to this game by TheCrochetNerd64 and I was pleased to see that it and everything else in this part exceeded my expectations for this cult classic. As is always the case on this show, the discussions of us and the active chat this time went into deeper dives on this game and the real-world history surrounding it, our attempts to pin down who ACTUALLY voiced the characters in this game, questions about a translation error we found, insights on all of the twists and turns we saw this time, discussions on other games we're playing (including aggression-relieving games, why we try to convince others that the games we love are the worth the time and investment and daunting aspects of games' complexities) and a fitting discussion of mortality as it relates to an early part of this show, particularly with some tragic losses of people I know and us finding out live on air of the passing of musician Aaron Carter (rest in peace to them all).
