It's been a bit of time since we last covered a racing game here on #SuperOldGameSaturday, but we're coming back to this speedy genre with a great one, which was requested by ElecVerse, and gives us a chance to talk about a franchise that's been dormant for almost 20 years. This is F-Zero X, the Nintendo 64 entry in Nintendo's futuristic racing series that tends to be seen as one of its best, and you'll get no argument from me on that, because this is a terrific game that still impresses today with its features, controls and sense of speed. Nintendo EAD's goal here was to emphasize speed above all else with this one via its uncapped framerate that's often hitting and holding 60 frames per second with a 30 polygonal vehicle field, which is an interesting aspect of the game's programming and really draws you into this futuristic world, its courses, its comic book-inspired characters/designs and its great racing action. For this show, we showed off all of the vehicles, all the modes and all of the tracks while sharing our memories on this game, the series, other futuristic racing titles (such as Quantum Redshift, which we will certainly play on this show in the future), its INCREDIBLE head-banging music, the idea of picking up cheap games on a whim, the idea of social gaming outside of multiplayer modes, our thoughts on some recent digital game removals and some deeper discussions regarding digital content, our ownership of it and where we may personally draw the line in regards to that. So we had a mix of fun and seriousness with this show, as well as some great uplift from the announcer of this game, but THEN, we dove into the X Cup, which is a unique mode in this game comprised of randomly generated tracks and the show turned into the video game equivalent of a Rorschach test for myself and the chat, while also resulting in some sights that, trust me, you will NOT want to miss (and this mode honestly is making me want to come back to this game eventually for a multiplayer run of the X Cup, which we can easily rationalize, since none of its courses are ever going to be the same). So, it was another great program that I thank the chat for making happen, both for the discussion and the viewer request of this fantastic racer, and I hope you all enjoy our play of F-Zero X (and if you like what you see here, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag each Saturday at 7 PM EST, except for next week's show, which will be on Friday, May 6th, at 7 PM EST, to see these streams live, and join/help drive the conversations on what we play each week)!

Also, here is this show's Link List, including all of the links to aspects that I and/or the chat referenced and/or provided us with in the chat:
