Sonny has above average Iron Stance but that's nothing Blade of Heaven can't power through! For this to work, however, the kitty cat needs to cooperate a tiny bit.
While Sonny moves slowy, its attack speed is another matter entirely. His initial moveset consists of Tailspin, a lunge attack and a fiery claw swipe, and it can also feint by leaping around the battlefield. I need Sonny to walk forward and use its slowest attack, the claw swipe, so I retreat a couple steps myself. If Sonny advances without attacking immediately, Blade of Heaven will break its Iron Stance, otherwise it's a retry.

I can follow up with Obliteration Cross after a successful break and I don't even need to switch to Semi-Auto or use Hydra to continue the combo thanks to Sonny's tail! It has a hurtbox that I can hit without turning around with Celestial Rupture. Sonny will be launched in the opposite direction I'm facing but a frontstep immediately followed by Hydra is the only combination that can catch Sonny before the cat's out of hitstun. Neither Demon Fang nor Squall work, surprisingly enough.
There's an issue with this though, and it's that Sonny may be in cooldown since I knock it down twice in quick succession (Blade of Heaven and Obliteration Cross). The combo can't continue unless Obliteration launches Sonny.

The beginning is overall the most luck-based part of this fight although it's smooth sailing afterwards. One of my favourite battles, as far as Character Episodes go.
