Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time for the SNES Sewer Surfin' Walkthrough!
1Welcome to the Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming every day! Today's entry is the point where the SNES version really splits off from the Arcade version of Turtles In Time. As with the last few videos in the series, we have Professor Stu and Hall Monitor Rika playing through the game, comment below if you think you know which turtle is being played by whom!
As mentioned previously, this level is really where the games become separate creatures. In the arcade version this stage starts with the same sort of things with Foot, spiky mine things, as well as the evil Pizza Monsters. However, in the SNES version this part is a bonus game and not a regular level requiring a set number of kills of the Pizza Monsters. Additionally, the SNES version adds a new boss to the mix: The Rat King, and he is riding on a sort of sewer glider thing that shoots missiles. We'll come back to him momentarily though.
The first part of the level is fighting for the bonus game. Jump kicks are the easiest way to kill the Pizza Monsters and Foot Soldiers die in one shot so they are good fodder. Jump over or otherwise avoid the purple, floating mines in order to make sure that the pizza boxes with the question marks on them can be collected in order to get bonus points towards extra lives. Get past the mini game and prepare for the Rat King.
The Rat King fight is strange in that the game actually tells you on-screen where to stand in order to avoid being shot by his torpedoes as well as to hit his weak spot. Maybe the developers felt pity on the players for throwing a new boss in there? Regardless, the Rat King is not terribly difficult to defeat, just try and avoid his torpedoes by doing exactly what the game tells you to do......
After defeating the Rat King, instead of being sucked through a portal back in time like in the Arcade version at the end of the level, the turtles instead see the Technodrome rising in the distance and rush toward it, eager to defeat Shredder and Krang....
