■Ingredients (for 1 grilled eel)
・1 grilled eel (160g)
・1 bag of eel sauce
・2 tablespoons of sake
For finishing
・1 bowl of rice (200g)
・A little Japanese pepper
■Procedure
(1)Put 1cm of water in a frying pan from the bottom and heat it over medium heat. When it boils, add the grilled eel and boil for about 1 minute. Discard the water and wipe off the water from the frying pan with kitchen paper. (By pouring off the sauce that is on the eel first before steaming, you can remove excess fat and prevent it from burning. Be careful when pouring off the water as the eel will become soft.)
(2) Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, pour sake over the eel kabayaki, cover and steam for 2-3 minutes over low heat.
(3) Remove the lid, pour the eel sauce over the eel kabayaki, cover again and heat for 1 minute to warm the sauce. Remove and cut in half.
(4) Place rice in a bowl and sprinkle with sansho pepper. Place the eel kabayaki from step 3 on top. (Sprinkling Japanese pepper between the rice and the grilled eel will bring out the aroma even more. If you want to enjoy a change in flavor, we recommend adding it halfway through. If you don't like Japanese pepper, leave it out.)
