The Multi-Medium - Episode 3: All Shapes are Equal, but Some Shapes are More Equal than Others
In today's episode of "The Multi-Medium", we help a group of squares overthrow a tyrannical circle regime in a world of ink.
Out of all of the game's level, I find the fifth one to be the weakest of the bunch. Don't get me wrong; it's a solid level with a great look and music to match, but it's held back by its main mechanic.
You see, this level revolves around you escorting square people around so that you can use them to not only activate switches, but also defeat these circle gunman that are the most annoying hazards in the game due to how quickly they can fire their weapons. Not to mention, when I first played through this game, I ran into a glitch where if you enter a cutscene without the necessary squares following you, the game softlocks and the only way to fix it is by resetting the game.
As for the boss of this world, King Circle, he's one of two traditional boss fights in the game, with the other being the electric eel that we encountered in World 3. However, unlike the eel, King Circle is out for blood and will show no mercy by attacking you with shockwaves, bullets, and lasers (if you aren't fast enough in hitting him with a square while he's charging the attack). Though oddly enough, the fight actually gets easier with each hit that you deal against King Circle since he won't be able to attack you with both shockwaves and bullets at the same time once he loses an arm and once both are taken care of, he's only left with the laser. However, the laser attack is fast and bounces off of wall, so you're better off hitting the little circle that's piloting King Circle as soon as he appears.
