Metroid Prime - Episode 19: Learning from Failure
In today's episode of the "Metroid Prime" playthrough, we travel to a new section of the Phazon Mines, only to realize that we spent the episode going in one big circle.
You know how they say that failure's the best teacher? Well, by that logic, you're going to get the lesson of a lifetime with this video because we more or less end up going in one big circle due to a brain fart on my part.
You see, I knew that you couldn't reach the end of the Phazon Mines until you got the X-Ray Visor, Grapple Beam, and the Plasma Beam because you couldn't get through Metroid Quarantine A without the former. However, instead of just returning to that room like you're supposed to, my crazy mind thought that the path forward was in a section of the mines that you can reach via Magmoor Caverns after blowing up some debris with a Power Bomb. As such, most of the episode is spent traveling to this new section of the Phazon Mines, only to remember that the main purpose of this area is to give you a quick way to exit the mine once you've defeated its main boss.
Though on the plus side, the Magmoor Caverns section of the Phazon Mines has a pipe that connects to the rest of the mine, so it doesn't take us long for us to get back to pretty much where the episode started. Plus, in addition to the Chozo Artifact that we got at the start of the video after defeating a Phazon Elite, we managed to collect a missile expansion, so at least we're not coming out of this experience emptyhanded.
So for the sake of your sanity, once you get the X-Ray Visor, Grapple Beam, and Plasma Beam and are ready to explore the rest of the Phazon Mines, just return to Metroid Quarantine A via the route that you took to reach the Power Bombs if you're in that section of the mines, the Tallon Overworld, or the Chozo Ruins. But if you're in Magmoor Caverns Phendrana Drifts, you're actually better off going to the new section of the mines since you're right in the area.
