Today we play another "walking simulator" by Tonguç Bodur! This one is described as being a short experience in the snow, but is another beautiful blend of sound, music, and poetry. Like his other work, Bodur has an innate dreamlike quality to this game as well, which you will see at two particular points in the video!
This game actually made me laugh aloud with joy. At one point I began to "run", and with the snow and trees brushing past me, I was hit with a sudden wave of nostalgia. I remembered my childhood playing in the woods around my grandparent's home, and as we would visit them in winter, often it would snow. There is something so...wonderful about running through the woods, the crunch of snow under your feet, the clear cold air rushing past you. Playing this game and simple walking around the environment was able to bring up some fond memories.
I would like to call Bodur's work, "literature-based walking simulators". The incorporation of the poems is intriguing, especially when placed in environments that accentuate or mimic what the poem is talking about. I think his work is a unique blend of art, literature, and gaming!
