The Virtual Game Cards On Nintendo Switch Broke This Previous Feature!
I don't know about you, but I was pretty agnostic when it came to Nintendo's Virtual Game Card System. I don't loan games out, and what systems my family owns share all of our content. At least they did, before the Virtual Game card became a reality. See, one of the things with the Virtual Cards now, I guess, is that you can only have 2 consoles registered to share content between. So, where before I could share apps and games across all of my systems, now, Nintendo broke this previous feature and made it harder on everyone.
The goal I had, and what I was going to do for this original video, was to have the YouTube app open behind me on the television as I discussed a few things about apps not transitioning to the Swtich 2. Makes sense, right? Well this is when I found out that not only is game software now tied to these Virtual Game Cards but applications are too. So basically everything you have on the Switch or Switch 2 is tied to these virtual cards. No big deal. right?
Wrong.
See, you can now only have 2 consoles registered together, so a Switch Lite and Switch OLED for example. Previously, there was no limit to this at all, and as such, I had apps shared from my main account across all of my family's devices. With the Virtual Game Card I now have to share from my primary device to my secondary one, and I can only have 1 secondary system!
I don't understand why Nintendo made this change, specifically for apps. Now I have to create MyNintendo accounts for all my other devices in my family, and have to add an extra level of monitoring to my youngest's system. I don't get this, and I think this is a terrible direction for Nintendo to take for the new Switch 2, and even for older hardware. Nintendo themselves have encouraged people to buy more than one Nintendo Switch, and now it seems like they are making it more of a hassle than it needs to be.
