TRANSFORMERS The Game | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
118It's time to archive another Transformers game and today we play the entry that was based on the very first Michael Bay movie. The opinions on the Michael Bay movie are divisive, but in the box office it was a massive hit. I rewatched the movie to get in the mood for the game and when I booted up my old Xbox 360 I was very surprised to find out that this game is open world.
You go from mission to mission, but it all takes place in multiple hub worlds where you can freely roam around in and collect various items and destroy pretty much every building. The destruction and chaos you can create is actually very impressive, though the framerate does suffer from it.
And though I really loved the freedom and destruction you could create, I did have a bit of a mixed bag with the missions. Some of the missions are quite boring, repetitive or outright annoying like the Bumblebee mission where you have to survive while the Allspark is shrinking. The controls are very clunky and you will often miss when you try to grab an object and also the driving controls are very bad.
I do have to say that the Decepticon campaign is more fun than the Autobot campaign since you can just go wild and destroy everything and everyone 'til your heart's content.
I have heard that there are many versions of this game for different consoles and they differ quite a bit. I believe the PlayStation 2 version is actually the best since it omits a few of the annoying mission parts. I also believe that the DS version was surprisingly good. All in all the game was not bad, but it was definitely my least favorite of the onest I played until now like War and Fall of Cybertron. Next up is Dark of the Moon and that is by the same studio that made War for Cybertron, so I have faith that this entry will actually be better!
