DOLLMARE | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
It's time for another horror game and honestly one of the best that 2024 has brought us. Many of you have actually requested me to record this and I finally got around to it. Dollmare is a small indie game that is pretty ambitious with what it has achieved. Its gameplay can be compared to games where you check anomalies or oddities like Paper's Please or Observation games. But it has so much more as you have places to explore and things get crazier and crazier with each day passing.
The story tells of a worker who starts their new job at a doll factory. The job we have is simple: check the dolls for quality and dispose of the ones that do not pass the test. It starts out simple enough, but each day we need to check more and more details. And each day creepier things start happening around us.
The game prouds itself of providing with a scary experience while not having jumpscares or loud, screaming noises all the time. And this is indeed true. Its mostly visual horror that you will see and it is still very effective. The most important thing is that many of the scares are random each playthrough and that means that during my recording session you will see a lot of different scares compared to other YouTubers.
The first time I saw this was with The Mortuary Assistant and back then I called that mechanic the future of videogames, since it keeps the experience fresh and creepy all the way through. And that was also with this game. Mortuary Assistant might be scaries, but Dollmare still managed to creep me out multiple times.
There are also sections where you get to explore the factory and this also kept the game fresh and new as it kept it from becoming repetitive. The only thing I would probably critique is that in order to get a specific ending you have to do something very particular. Now from what I understand you had multiple chances of doing this, but it seems that has been patched and you now only have one chance to do it? I think I would have liked to stay the way it was, but hopefully it will be more clear on what is required if the developer ever makes a sequel. From what I understand the game is quite a big hit, so I cannot wait to see what horrors lay in wait for us next.
