I think in light of the recent mass shootings, I'd want to get a good project off the ground. Obviously, anything involving guns casually (Advance Wars or Lost Frontier) is out, but why not involve something involving welcome messages. Obviously, Ultima 4 is dated with Guide Dang It handling and other questionable handling of its own virtue system, but the ideas are certainly there at least, and I'd rather make it clear that #VideogamesAreNotToBlame no matter how messed up video game communities in general are. Besides, I'm for going with something tame enough at the moment after my venture with Startropics, even if 2x Speed would be recommended for usage with this series, because the combat system IS rather dated.

I was planning to wait with talking with Lord British for the level ups because leveling up is punished with dealing with stronger monsters, but I decided, no, I shouldn't shoot the point of this entire run in the foot given what I'm going to aim to do next to make these battles more tolerable before tackling the second set of dungeons, in particular making sure my Avatar character would stop being a deadweight reject. Of course, a spread encounter with a group of Balrogs was happy to try to make me regret taking the level ups from Lord British.

I'm not yielding though. I can be sure I'd have this playthrough done by the end of the first week of September. And I have obtained access to the hot-air balloon, even if I can't punctuate enough how bad this thing is with its sense of control. Again, I'd rather have to play a song every time I want to change direction, than move in random directions unless I repeatedly cast a spell requiring significant long-term resources. I don't even want to have to deal with either to begin with, but what can you do.

At least the hot-air balloon allows for visiting Cove, which permits getting the Candle of Love, as well as the recipe for the Gate spell. Apparently, you can reach Cove without the balloon by finding the whirlpool, but that would require dealing with a God forsaken sailing trip to find a randomly moving needle in a haystack, to handle a task that can be done by a mode of transportation that's not only required anyway, but also allows for skipping some random encounter messes heading for Minoc, where I do at least get to turn in the Scale--oh, and if you're wondering, Zircon takes 128 tile steps on the overworld from when he receives the Scale to finish forging what he will provide.

Also, Julius is recruited. Like I'll have him do anything when his class is banned from the challenge.

Spell ingredient learning of note ATM:
-Tremor: Ash, Manroot, Moss, other ingredient(s) unknown (Beggar at Skara Brae, Soldier at Jhelom, and Teresa at Paws)
-Gate: Ash, Pearl, Manroot (Mentallion at Cove)

Coordinates of note thus far:
-69,105 - unknown so far, could just be a joke by all indications
-149,46 - unknown so far, but search should be done during double New Moons
-54,182 - search during double New Moons for Manroot (likely that totally not suspicious poison swamp anyway)
