Undisputed is a boxing game that launched in Early Access recently, and I thought it would be fun to document a quick 4 round match.

I stepped into the ring as Ebanie Bridges because, for some reason, she's the only Australian boxer in the game so far. I took on German young gun Sophie Alisch because she has the same overall rating as Ms Bridges. Not the most thrilling 'Tale Of The Tape' ever, but it'll do.

You’ll notice that I increased the damage and stamina settings so that there could be some knockdowns within 4 rounds instead of just going to points. This backfired at first, because I kept winning by KO in the 2nd or 3rd round and the video was too short as a result. But in this take, Ms Alisch suddenly developed super stamina and found a way to get up from about 6 knockdowns! I have no idea why that happened but I hope it at least added some drama to the video!

As for the game itself, I really like the punch controls and find it much more intuitive to switch between head and body punches compared to some of the other boxing games I've played. I also thought the different stances were interesting, and you’ll notice that I switch to ‘Loose Stance’ in the 4th round to try and get a quick KO. Characters also have certain traits that influence their fighting style, which is why I favoured the right hook and tried to avoid longer combos when playing as Ms Bridges.

I also loved the overall presentation of the game (even if the camera gets a bit disorienting at times) and I'm happy to say that I like Todd Grisham a lot more as a boxing commentator than as a WWE commentator. ;)
