As I mentioned in my Ticket To Earth video, there was a time when I was obsessed with finding decent mobile games because I liked the convenience of having games on a device that I always had access to. Arguably the best game that I found during that time was Void Tyrant, which was later ported to Steam.
It is a deckbuilding RPG based around Blackjack, an idea so brilliant that I can’t believe no-one has ever tried it before (and if someone HAS tried it then I’d love to know about it!). You'll see in this video that battles revolve around a simplified version of Blackjack, but you can also turn the tide by playing hand cards from a customisable deck.
As well as fun gameplay, the game has a lot of interesting lore and worldbuilding that is revealed over the course of multiple runs (oh yeah, its a roguelite too). Glory to the Space Whale!
I know there's a ton of roguelite deckbuilders available these days, but I do believe that Void Tyrant is a particularly good one that's worth checking out. And if you're not sold on the Steam version, the phone version is free-to-play AND ethically monetised!
