If you use an escapipe or telepipe in the Garuberk Tower boss room an interesting glitch occurs. You'll hear a strange sound when opening up the menu. It's the sound that should play when going through doors. But you don't always hear it. Occasionally it's muffled. But that doesn't occur either of the times it's heard in this video. The little jump in music at 43 seconds in is not part of the glitch. I edited out a menu choice mistake that I made.

After experimenting a little more I’ve discovered that it’s the doors themselves that seem to be the issue and not the boss room itself. After entering or exiting a door in here using a telepipe or escapipe causes party order glitches and graphical corruption. Using any other item or just opening and closing the menu after passing through a door will cause the door animation to repeat. You can keep doing this and get stuck in walls because you move forward every time you pass through the glitch door that appears. Stepping away from the door or getting into a battle cancels out the ability to trigger the glitch.

It looks like the doors in the Garuberk Tower are bugged somehow and confirming on the menu after stepping through one is registered as door activation. That's what the graphic corruption on the overworld probably is. The door animation repeating on a map that doesn't have the correct graphics for it. I'm not sure what causes the party formation to mess up outside. Perhaps they are trying to do a "follow me" with Chaz but are attempting to do so with a door animation that isn't really there. It just plain doesn't work right in the overworld because it's not meant to.

First I used the escapipe to exit the tower. As you can see, the graphics are corrupted. But only around the tower itself as well as a few sea tiles that turn black. Party members also don't follow Chaz properly. They can even go over mountains, trees, ice, towns and dungeons.

The second time I used the telepipe to warp to a town (Meese? I think Meese and Reshel were merged). I didn't even know that was possible. But you can use the telepipe in the boss room at Garuberk Tower and instead of warping you out it will take you to the selected destination. Anyway, the same effect occurs.

Getting into a battle doesn't fix this glitch. The graphical corruption disappears. But the party still doesn't follow Chaz properly. To fix it you need to enter a town, dungeon or spaceport. You can also enter then exit a vehicle. I don't know if it has any long lasting effects. But I don't think so.

It doesn't look like you can use this glitch to travel all over the map. There's no way to shuffle the party order save for the final battle preparation. And Chaz will always be in front anyway. If you let him die you'll still be controlling him in flatline status without walking animations.
