Oh look, a video I never intended to make! I haven't made anything for awhile because I didn't feel like doing the videos I had planned. Maybe I shouldn't bother making plans. This works out easier.

I was messing around while grabbing extra screenshots. I was just looking for addresses that interested me from VirtuaNES's memory viewer. I ended up finding this. Due to VirtuaNES not recording properly with cheats enabled because of the way the emulator works, I could not get the full effect of this code. But it seems to record encounters forced from cheats. Or at least this one. I probably should have turned it off then did the rest. But I don't know if it will matter because I would be recording with the code on from the beginning. It might still fail. I'd have to use Fraps and deal with no sound. Not really worth it.

In the cheat support menu of VirtuaNES it is located in address 6000 FFF09E. As far as I know the game will not work in Jnes. I keep getting a mapper error that I am not sure is fixable. After all, this is a pirate game. In the cheat window it should be input as 6000-3-FFF09E. I had 3 bytes selected.

Lashiec will dog your every step on the world map. There is no escape. You can run away while in a vehicle but not on foot. Every step however results in a Lashiec battle regardless. It's fairly easy on a vehicle due to fixed damage. Also note that when the vehicle gets down to single digit SP there's a graphical glitch on the display. I don't think this happens normally. But you'd never normally encounter Lashiec on a vehicle so...

I'm guessing that this code is related to encounters. But I'm not sure how. Lashiec is a boss that must be approached to fight. Maybe the code also sets up a high encounter rate? Or Lashiec just happens to have one for some bizarre reason due to the way the game is coded? Since he will appear immediately when going into towns or entering buildings perhaps code is forcing the encounter as if you approached him in the Air Castle. I have no idea. It's a bit beyond my level of skill right now. But it sure is weird.

All two people who are interested in this must be so excited right now. I'm probably one of those two people. ^^;;
