White Knight Chronicles 2 | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
67After having completed and archived White Knight Chronicles it was the logical step to go and archive its sequel White Knight Chronicles 2. I don't believe there is a proper longplay of this game on YouTube as of yet so it is my duty as The Game Archivist to showcase this game so that it won't be lost to time.
The most interesting about White Knight Chronicles 2 is that the first game is on the same disc as well in a remastered version. That means you can play both WKC1 and WKC2 if you only own the second game disc. Now the version of the first game on this disc is definitely the better version, so I would recommend getting it for that reason, but overall the sequel left me quite dissapointed.
It starts out really cool with brand new areas, brand new characters and a fighting system that is more responsive and fast paced. Many of the battles are also more difficult, which means you now have to use proper tactics like buffs and debuffs in between attacking.
But around 85% of the game is reused content in the form of the enviroments. I have never seen a sequel reuse so much of the previous games. Not even Dynasty Warriors have done this and it felt quite lazy to revisit all and I mean all of the previous locations I already had in the first game. The story is also less interesting with a time traveling plot and overall it was just less than the first game in every regard except the battles. The battles are much better here and the intro and finale are quite epic. It is just everything that is in between you have already done.
Now from what I understand this game was very popular amongst the ones who were able to play online back in the day. You could play with up to 5 friends and go on quests and explore dungeons together. You could even build your own town like you did with Dark Cloud which is by the same developers. But the online component is no longer available and the singleplayer experience is but a shell of what it was back in the day. I definitely will play the first White Knight Chronicles again in the future in the form of its remastered version, but I don't think I will ever return to White Knight Chronicles 2.
