Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Part 70: Regrouping in the Land of Morytha, the Truth About Almalthus
As Rex's team, along with Jin, got closer to the World Tree, Jin saw a Tornan Titan.
In the Womb Hollow, the matrix of this Titan, they saw a lot of dead Blades. They were in the process of becoming Titans themselves. Rex had remembered the lecture Vandham have him about the life cycle of Blades and Titans.
Blades aren't truly immortal beings. They're born from Titans, and then return to them when their time is finally up. If they manage to do it, then they, themselves, eventually become Titans. Even then, a new Titan will not remember its previous life as a Blade.
The team was now staring into a graveyard of the Blades that failed to become Titans...
----------
In the Central Pathway, the team observed huge inscriptions on the wall. Indeed were the Blades before from crystals and the Titans were born from Blades. They create their own life, and eventually create new Core Crystals, and as such new Blades. This was how the Architect created Alrest.
Jin explained what old Torna was like.
Torna was a civilization where Blades and humans lived in harmony. However, Malos' war ended that harmony, and it even caused Mythra to leave with Addam from Torna.
The war was actually caused by none other than Amalthus. It was through his order that many Drivers were killed, including Jin's own beloved Lora. She had tried to shield a blast that was meant for Jin, but the blast ended up taking her life.
In her last words, she wanted to make it clear that Jin will be found by someone else once her death leads him to return to his Core Crystal. However, Jin loved Lora so much, that he couldn't bare to lose her or his memories of her. He drove his fist into her heart, and took in her own flesh and blood for his own.
From that point on, Jin became a Flesh Eater. He no longer had a Driver, because a part of her now existed within the blood red Core Crystal on his forehead.
Beyond that, Almathus attacked because he feared the Aegises' power, both Malos' and Mythra's. He put out all of his stops to to get rid of them, but this destroyed the rest of Torna.
Right now, Almathus' ultimate goal was to reach Elysium for himself, find the Architect, and use his power to destroy all Blades and Titans in Alrest. This was likely why he took good care of Rex and his Aegis.
Even then, Rex remembered that Jin wanted to destroy Alrest, himself, including killing the Architect. He had already killed another Blade such as Fan/Haze to do this. He admitted to Jin that the real truth behind his motives is because he, himself, wanted to die from the world...
Jin shrugged this off, as wanted to continue his plan.
Another Guldo, Infernal Guldo, arrived to attack the team.
----------
You get a freebie to use Pneuma at the start of this fight, but you don't get to keep her for it, and the fight advances a bit after some damage. "The answer is obvious!"
Rex needed a new plan to defeat the Infernal Guldo. Instead, he got more outside help.
It was the rest of his missing friends: Nia, Dromarch, Tora, Mòrag, Zeke, and Pandoria! With your whole party back, try to figure out how to finish this Guldo!
----------
After beating the Infernal Guldo, a card fell out of it. It seemed like some kind of ID for a person.
Rex just had to wonder how the Guldo originally was...
The entire team finally reached the roots of the World Tree, though they were still morbidly concerned that Jin was still with them.
This alliance would end with the arrival of Torna in their Monoceros. They were their to pick up their leader and attack the others. But Jin, surprisingly, forced his crew not to attack.
So the Torna just followed his command and picked up Jin in peace. They were now on their own way up the World Tree to reach the Architect.
When Jin left, Azurda admitted to Rex that he always knew about his hidden motives and of his past. But right now, both he and Malos needed to be stopped from killing their Creator On High, and also for Rex to live on for Pyra and Mythra's sake.
----------
Back in Mor Ardian, Emperor Nihal was informed that his titan's lifespan was getting closer to its end. His soldier suggest moving his capital sooner to Gormott, but this would not bode well with the Gormotti for such an unprepared change of place...
Also, Gormott itself was slowly dying a sure death, as if it was more of a sign that all of Alrest was in trouble...
----------
Artifice Ophion was gone, which also eliminated the Great Void.
Inside the World Tree was not plant life, but of advanced technology. Pyra had an instinct to use Pneuma to open the first elevator up this place.
----------
I'm going to take some more breaks from the plot to get some Side Quests, but I will continue on with the plot at certain points.
This is mainly so I can try and improve and learn more about some of the optional RNG Blades that you can randomly get from Core Crystals. I also aim to get them all before beating this game!
I admit that this vastly extended the whole playthrough.
