Gameplay of the hidden character Tekkaman Blade in the Wii port of Capcom’s Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars.

Tekkaman here is a bit more of an anomaly compared to the other characters. His dash actually sees him flying 45 degrees up into the air, which I have to admit I found pretty annoying. That said, he has some damn good combos which make him something of a force to be reckoned with, not least because he has a rapid-press attack which can hit the opponent a good number of times, and makes for a cheap but effective combo. His regular super is bloody good too, and is even quite easy to chain into during an aerial combo, meaning that with his range and power he can start absolutely destroying the opponent once you start to get a grip on him. He also has this aerial laser cannon super which deals some nice damage too, but does more damage the closer the opponent is to you like so many other supers. I decided to use him against the Giant mid-boss in this case because I had a sneaking suspicion he’d be quite effective against him. Which he absolutely was, as he has this brilliant special move where he dashes behind the opponent and his blade deals a number of powerful hits as it boomerangs over to him. Which, for a slow giant character, is an absolute death sentence, because as soon as they turn around Tekkaman can just dash behind them again and rinse and repeat the strategy until death. It’s a little broken really, but broken aspects are generally the most fun parts of these videos as it is.

On the whole, I found Tekkaman pretty damn great here. He’s a little fiddly as a result of that rapid-press attack, so you have to hold back rapid presses if you want to do an aerial combo or other sort of combo, but damn if he isn’t good on the whole.

Last up, the final character to cover for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
