#14 PLOK - PLAYTHROUGH (Final World) NORMAL MODE - Beating My Snes Games
Here is my playthrough of Plok on done live on IGTV. Unfortunately the edit of this one got all messed up and it jumps from mid battle with the penultimate boss to the beginning of the final world which was the Flea Pit. The final Boss defeated me on my first attempt forcing a continue from the beginning of the Flea Pit. I have removed the 2nd playthrough of the Flea Pit. Due to space restrictions I was only edited in the 2nd playthrough of the fleas pit
Follow me on instagram @CabinSNES_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.
REVIEW:
-It's back... the pain, the suffering, the ocean of disappointment. It's been awhile since I felt the urge to take a hammer to my cartridge but Plok demands serious restrain to avoid unleashing the full force of the toolbox at it!
You control some kind of crustacean? with detachable limbs. Arms and legs act as weapons, tho your limbs automatically return, while temporarily legless, your body has a tendency to slide off cliffs accompanied by my outrage! This is merely the beginning of the horrorshow however! The obnoxiousness of this game knows no bounds, from the never ending assault course of beginner traps, to the cripplingly frustrating boss encounters who, if you haven't torn all your hair out by the time you eventually beat them, you're doing very well!
If the game seems easy at first, just wait! Split into 4 worlds (the 3rd divided into 2 parts by the 2nd), it's a fairly long game. A huge dose of trauma is induced by the the fact theres no password and you're only rewarded a 'ploKontinue' after beating 4 stages deathless! These dont have to be consecutive but considering the demand on beginner traps, your chances of losing no lives are slim for your initial playthroughs. What's more, continues only respawn you from the level you earned them! Is anything more fun than seeing an hour of painstaking progress across 8 levels rewarded with complete repetition? Unlike extra lives, continues dont even accumulate!
There's at least some nice mechanics at play with a range of interesting powerups, not least the many vehicles of the 'Flea Pit'. The variety in gameplay is certainly commendable and much of the unpallettable difficulty is significantly reduced with significantly more playthroughs, tho some levels are unreasonably long, resulting in dangerous levels of rage when a death occurs near the end!
While gameplay is essentially lobotomised on the 'Child's Play' difficulty, obviously Cabisnes went for Normal mode. I'm not having all my hard work undone with a cheap 'try harder' endscreen!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to detach one of Ploks limbs so I can beat him to death with it!
