#68 JUDGE DREDD - FULL PLAYTHROUGH - Beating My Snes Games
Here is my Full playthrough of Judge Dredd on done live on IGTV.
Follow me on instagram @CabinSNES_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.
-Probe pilot another movie franchise, which somehow manages to produce a far more commendable experience than the 90 million dollars Stallone's cinematic abomination delivered!
However before we start hastily handing out not-guilty judgements, I think calling this game 'Good' is being polite. 'Above average' seems a more fitting verdict.
Initial playthroughs may suggest a more damning review given the many confusing early elements the game confronts you with. "How do I go in the damn door with the big flashing arrow above it? How do I destroy these bloody ammo crates? Why do all these ladders look like toothpicks & why are they so flipping hard to see?" That's the first level for you. The fun only continues from there!
Okay so the gameplay does require a little more than the basic run'n'gun aesthetic suggests. Much like Probes Alien3, each stage demands certain objectives to be completed before you can finish it. This adds some depth, as does the ability to arrest certain perps instead of a pure bloody massacre. Despite the point & occasional powerup bonus, the choice to arrest of terminate still remains yours, afterall remember, you are The Law!
Controls are slick & the arsenal is large, tho equally unsatisfying with many firepower options appearing too weak to bother with. The main issue is health! There isn't a great deal of HP powerups & given theres no continues, every extra live feels like gold dust.
There is a password system but its use is (incredibly unfairly) a secret, requiring you to locate hidden discs somewhere in each stage. They're extremely well hidden, I found only 4 in 18 levels! Luckily, mostly at the end of the game when things get seriously hard!
After conquering initial gameplay hurdles, a patient rhythm for dealing with the majority of enemies is achievable with practice but Bosses are a stark contrast, often resulting in one hit kills that can tear through your live count like wildfire! I wont even bother explaining the suffering the final stages & bosses put me through as I think the end clip speaks it's own volumes!
No one said the Law was going to be easy to enforce and it wasnt!
