#7 SUPER GHOULS & GHOSTS (Both Loops) - PLAYTHOUGH (Final 3 levels 2nd loop) - Beating My Snes Games
Here is my playthrough of Super Ghouls & Ghosts both loops on done live on IGTV. Due to space restrictions I was only able to record the final part of the playthrough. Unfortunately my main recording camera failed so the first part of this recording is taken from my backup filming straight from my Live Instagram feed
Follow me on instagram @CabinSNES_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.
REVIEW:
-How far do you go for the one you love?Fight through hoards of demons to ultimately face Satan himself? Arthur has, twice! Tho I haven't exactly got off lightly myself, since I'm the one who has to endure not one, but two entire loops of the game! Seeing as less than a year ago I already put myself through the same ordeal in 8-bit, for Ghosts 'n Goblins, the reality of yet another round of ghoulish double jeopardy didn't seem that appealing. I would have thought the same could be said for Arthur, however his devotion to young 'Princess Prin Prin' is finally solved during the end titles (pic 9) after the, at first confusing 'b88 w58 h90' displayed beneath her credit, is then decoded by a google search to reveal the mystery to her powerful allure over both Satan & Arthur as standing simply for 'height90, waist58 & bust88!', what classy guys!
It's well considered by most that the SNES GnG is one of the hardest versions of the game. It's very rare I hear anyone offer a contrary opinion, however you're going to hear one now!
While slick control and gameplay does wonders for elevating both the overall experience & the challenge compared to its 8-bit predecessor, I found the enemy challenge markedly easier. Though still left commited to a direction once a jump has begun, the inclusion of a double jump leaves a far greater margin for error than before.
Weapon upgrades are greatly improved, again with some proving far more useful than others, like the very overpowered crossbow. Since a 3rd & 4th armour upgrade offer further improvements (tho not to HP), there really is very little of the 'unfair' factor common with the NES release.
I actually beat the 1st loop in around an hour. Despite what I was preparing for with the 2nd harder loop, it took me even less time to reach the final stage & if not for to the confusion of finding the magical bracelet & considerable difficulty of defeating Astaroth & Nebiroth with it, I'd likely have finished in less time than my first loop!
It feels good to have toppled one of the more notorious titles for the snes, but the NES taught me the pain really comes when u least expect it!
