#163 BREATH OF FIRE II - PLAYTHROUGH (Final Boss) - Beating My Snes Games
Here is of my full playthrough of Breath of Fire II done, as always using original hardware on a Super Nintendo with no cheats or save states! Because I have already beaten the game previously I used an old Save file that was still there on the Cart.
Follow me on instagram @Cabin_game_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.

-Okay, so no I didn't just spend the last 2 days solidly doing nothing but playing this sequel to Capcom's first RPG entry on the snes. That probably is the amount of time required to actually see this one through, But given my current free gaming time these days, it would probably mean taking about 3 months to finish!
So no I didn't, I instead cheated by using my old save file that somehow has still survived running on a battery installed in 1993! Its been probably 10 years since I last played this file, yet I obviously levelled up sufficiently enough at the time, because I was able to step into my game and beat the final boss on my first attempt.
Thus far I've beaten every RPG for the challenge legit, whether I've beaten before or not. So this does therefore feel a major cop-out, but I have beaten it before and for anyone who's taken on the challenge of a classic Breath Of Fire game knows, the commitment required to see these games through is intense!
Bad game then? Not in the slightest, the series is unquestionably one of the biggest contenders to challenge Square's mighty Final Fantasy series. Still like FF, the demand in hours to see it out is exhausting as is the relentless amount of random encounters and endless demand on grinding. For everything this game does so well, the commitment to finish it is no joke!
Lets not overlook how good this game really is tho. Breath of Fire 2 improves on almost all aspects of what was already a very commendable first outing on the Snes (game #44). Looks, gameplay and mechanics take a boost, as does the rolecall of playable charcaters and attributes but the most obvious change comes from the far deeper story that really elevates that sense the adventure. I was a big fan of the first game but this one feels like the considerably more polished version.
I think it's fair to call this a harder RPG than many, especially given the exhausting amount of random encounters, however as with all in its genre, patience is rewarded through grinding.
There are better RPGs on the Snes, but not many!
